Thank you for considering the Free Market Physician Clinic for your health care! In 2014 I opened the Free Market Physician clinic in Neosho with three goals.
First, I wanted to restore the physician/patient relationship. I wanted to be a doctor that my patients could talk to and actually be accessible to my patients.
Second, I wanted to restore customer service to medical care.
Third, I wanted to restore sane pricing and transparent pricing to medical services.
So, I opened an insurance-free membership clinic. My patients pay a monthly fee that covers all of their visits, including guaranteed same-day visits, and access to their physician 24/7 by phone, text, and email. Our labs and medications are provided at cost.
This approach has been a success. We now have a growing staff with offices in Neosho and Joplin and new patients joining us daily. Most importantly, we have been able to break out of the insurance model and provide health care the right way- working directly for our patients.

MEET OUR DOCTORS
DR. SHEPPARD
D.O. – NEOSHO OFFICE
Dr. Sheppard attended medical school at the Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine and graduated from the Cox Family Practice Residency in Springfield. He lives in Neosho with his wife and six children. He loves time with his family, reading, writing, and NBA basketball.
DR. MATOS
M.D. – NEOSHO OFFICE
Dr. Matos attended medical school and completed a Family Medicine Residency in Cuba at the Havana Institute of Health Science & Medicine. He practiced medicine in California before joining the Free Market Physician Clinic as an Assistant Physician in 2018. He and his wife enjoy rural life in SW Missouri.
DR. ABDELMASIH
M.D. - JOPLIN OFFICE
Dr. A. graduated from medical school at the Cairo University in 1998. He practiced family medicine until specializing in anesthesiology in 2008. He and his family immigrated to the United States in 2012 and he has been practicing as an Assistant Physician in Family Medicine since 2019. He enjoys music, reading, and time with his wife and children.
DR. BENTZ
M.D. – NEOSHO OFFICE
Dr Bentz has lived in the Neosho area his entire life except for during his medical education. He attended medical school at the University of Missouri at Columbia and completed an Internal Medicine residency at East Tennessee State University. He and his wife Heather have ten children and ten grandchildren with whom they spend a great deal of time. He also enjoys automobile restoration and riding motorcycles.

What is direct primary care?
Direct Primary Care is a model of healthcare delivery. They key is that it is direct. Physicians have a direct relationship with their patients. Patients can contact their physician as needed by phone, text and email. There is also a direct payment relationship. Instead of using a third party like an insurance company, patients pay the physician directly. You work for whoever pays you. We don’t want to work for insurance companies. We work for you, our patients.
What services are offered at free market physician?
Free Market Physician is a family practice clinic where patients are able to get all of their primary medical care for a low monthly fee. This includes sick visits, well visits, and care for chronic conditions. Patients are able to get after-hours consultations for urgent issues by phone, text, and email. Some procedures are also available. Members are also able to get labs and medications at cost.
